10. Exceptions to Authenticity Regulations


Every member may bring one item that fits any one of the following categories:

                      From a status greater than that of your impression

                      From an era earlier than the one we portray


Only one of each of these may be brought to an encampment”

                      Hangeroc (unless the theme for the event is Scandinavian)

                      Lucet


Modern prosthesis of an essential sort—oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs—are not restricted but should, if at all practical, be used if necessary to get behind the ropeline and then hidden, replaced with period alternatives or kept as unobtrusive as possible. The British NAReS’

Guidance Notes for Disability Discrimination, which has been consulted, notes that “reasonable adjustments shall be made to facilitate the participation of such members in the activities of the society.


Any of these exceptions must be approved by the AO before they may be used behind the ropeline.
